"5-Bullet Friday" — 5 Things I've Been Loving, Using, and Reading

Absolutely the best for flying. But which one? The booze, hat, or weird footwear?
Absolutely the best for flying. But which one? The booze, hat, squat, or weird footwear?

Greetings, friends.

Here are some popular links, thoughts, and articles that have appeared in my “5-Bullet Friday” e-mail newsletter, which is free and goes out every Friday.  I cheated in this post and gave you six.

Enjoy!

Article I’m enjoying (and pondering)How Bold Entrepreneurs Are Breaking $1 Million In One-Person Businesses by Elaine Pofeldt for Forbes.com

Clothing I’m loving — Check out Myles’ “everyday shorts.”  I originally got these as a gift from Huckberry, and they are now my go-to shorts for nearly everything. I swim in them (quick drying), I wear them while working at coffee shops, and you can even wear them to a nice dinner if you have decent shoes. Multi-purpose rocks.

My most popular Facebook post recently — Japan’s Michael Jordan of Day Trading. His “one rule” is quite smart, methinks…

A quote that’s on my mind — “People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I’m actually as proud of the things we haven’t done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.” – Steve Jobs

Responses I’ll be practicing (yet again) next week — How to graciously say no to anyone by Austin Kleon. This is worth revisiting constantly.

New footwear, long overdue — I’ve needed Adidas slip-ons for years. No idea why it took me so long to get them. They’re perfect as indoor Japanese-style slippers, or for wearing outside when you don’t want flip-flops killing your toe webbing. I’m typing this on an airplane, where I’m wearing them with socks. #GermanStyle

  1. Hi Tim – read Laughing at My Nightmare by Shane Burcaw when you have a chance. It’s a quick read and gives good perspective on life and what it really means to be brave. Thank you for all you do!

  2. Love this product but a small heads up on Thera Zinc (which I have used religiously myself and for my family for at least a decade) … liquid zinc supposedly can lead to loss of function of the taste buds. Use it sparingly (as in when you are getting sick or need a serious boost to your immune system) and spray under the tongue and not just into your mouth.

  3. Tim, I can’t thank you enough for all of the helpful information you put out there FOR FREE. It’s absolutely incredible and I am inspired every single day. Just wanted to let you know that I’ve got the Tools of Titans Las Vegas group up to over 500 members now! I have left the link to the group in place of my website. We would love to have you come do a live podcast. You will really love it out here. The hiking at Red Rock is awesome. I workout at Polecats Aerial Fitness and they do a lot of aerial/acro classes, which I know is right up your alley. Perhaps while you’re here you could try hammock yoga one Saturday morning. I know you won’t regret making Vegas one of your spots. Hope to see you soon! Thank you again.

  4. Tim – just read your recent newsletter for 2/3/17. Did the Camino de Santiago a few years ago, amazing trip. looking forward to reading Kamal’s book!

  5. Questions & Compliments:

    – Compliment – I love your brain. You are amazeballs. I feel like I’ve found a friend (albeit a much braver and crazier and wiser one than I’ll ever be.). Your struggles are ours and MINE. You comfort me. You challenge me. You inspire me. And sometimes I have no clue what you and your guests are talking about. It’s like sitting at the grown-ups table. (Plus, everything Bill said below.)

    – Questions that might benefit more than myself:

    1. In 4-Hour Body, you reference taking off a day for the PAGG and you say, “for obvious reasons”. It wasn’t obvi to me? Also, do you still follow this?

    2. I am new to lifting but I seem to have lots of tendon issues, so I make progress and then have to stop. Any stuff, ideas, thoughts on what helps strengthen tendons and prevents injuries?

My arms and elbows ache at night for weeks whenever I get back into lifting – in the joints not the muscles. Cissus Quadrangulis has helped. (You recommend it for overeating rice – based dishes in China but it helped my joints!) To be fair, I ride horses which takes some strength and nothing will keep me from it so…I could be my own worst enemy here.

    3. As I read Tools and just finished 4-Hour Body, I’m curious what you still do, the frequency of things or the PRN nature (no need to comment on Improving Sex oc lol). Be mindful of stalkers but if someone wanted to follow along or borrow your calendar, what would that look like? I wonder how much sticks for you and what/where you are modifying and seeking and changing?

  6. I want to know more about you Tim. You interview and deconstruct everyone else, but we rarely get to hear about you… I quite enjoy the level at which you seem to experience and do life and I would love you to write a memoir, or memoir type posts… (maybe that’s because that’s what I do – so for sure that’s the lens I’m looking through)

I loved the interview you did with Jonathan Fields recently… and I bought Tools of the Titans mostly because you mentioned you had made connections throughout the book from one interviewee to another.

If you walk the Camino, I want to come with you! (Except that’s weird because we don’t know each other ;))

It piqued my curiosity when Sonia Choquette did it and then wrote about her experience…

I’m cheering you on no matter, love you’re work and the unselfish way you are using your influence to help the world do better and be better. Much gratitude to you.

  7. Hello Tim,

I’ve read your 4-Hour Work Week, so I know many items get filtered, but if this should happen to come your way I thought it might be of great use for you. So, almost a decade ago I stumbled across an article explaining a lot about the mechanics of running and the design of our skeletal system. Essentially, the first thing I learned is that you should never run on your heels. Many sports coaches used to say, “stay on the balls of your feet when sprinting, but when at a jog, go heel-to-toe.” Then when I’d get shin splints I’d have friends, family, and even doctors tell me I need more arch support, more cushion in the heel.

Well, after reading that small amount about staying on your toes, I never got shin splints again. So I thought “maybe I’m crazy, but this works for me, so I’m sticking to it,” and never really thought about it again. In December of 2015 I started a journey to bring myself to the best possible me that I can be, both mentally and physically. Since I had never completed an entire book on my own, I realized this was one challenge I had to over come… “The more you learn, the more you earn…” etc.

So I found a good friends who had a few PDF copies of books and specifically audio books. Well after running into a list of great books to read recommended by Entrepreneurs, I search through his archive and found them. “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” After listening through these books over about a months time, I had a paradigm shift in my brain about the value of books. I didn’t hate reading, like I thought I did since middle school, I hated reading things I wasn’t interested in. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t like reading fictional stories and then dissecting what a dead author might have meant.

So instead, I went on Amazon and searched for books on self-help, management, startups, biographies, and more and have been non-stop reading and loving it. So much so I now get the same feeling as playing a new video games as I do from simply seeing my book collection. Since then, I have also joined a martial art class (Jeet Kune Do), do yoga and Tai Chi Regularly (as I prefer moving mediation), and have learned many truths uncommonly known; many of which are the opposite of what is believed.

So to the point of this email, I eventually came across a book called “Born to Run”, by Christopher McDougall. Now, I know you prefer fictional stories before bead to ease the mind (or something along those lines, can’t remember your exact phrasing lol), well for this, I’d make an exception. This book is a true story, however it is written as a narrative. If I didn’t know it was true it would seem like just a story. In it,it talks about how humans, the homo-sapiens, evolved to run. The author himself was flat-footed his whole life. So many doctors giving him, what later turned out to be bad advice.

So, at around chapter 25, they detour from the novel for a few chapters to delve into a bit more science. Specifically they focus on the information I had found in an article years ago. They describe many issues with today’s information on feet, bio-mechanics and more. Now the part that specifically pertains to you and this email you sent yesterday. I am en engineer and so I’m almost upset that I didn’t see this before, but there is something unique about the human foot. Even those who are flat-footed have a slight arch of the bone. Now the unique thing about arches, from an engineering stand-point, is that they become stronger as the downward load increases, however, they become frail when an upward force is applied.

The reason this is relevant is that by adding arch support to your shoes as someone with flat-feet, you are actually weakening your foot. In fact, Nike’s own research showed this in 1987. They discovered a correlation between cost of shoe and likelihood of injury, Back then, if your running shoes cost more than $100, you were 40% more likely to get shinsplints, back pain, runners knee, etc. The author of the book actually found one of the great coaches who already knew about this and trained with him. By running barefoot in morning grass (dew and soft) you can actually build the arches in your foot. Even someone born flat footed can do so.

The reasoning behind this is that shoes, although meant to protect your feet, restrict the natural pronation that is supposed to occur (the fanning out of ones toes). Many scientist and doctors thought that this was unnatural and bad that our feet spread upon impact and so shoes should hold them together. However, it was proven that through pronation, the bones, tendons, ligaments and muscles all grow stronger because of this. This motion is actually what helps build the arches of ones feet. Because we’ve all worn shoes since we were children, it would seem as though you were “born with flat-feet”, when in fact you were born to run (yea I said it haha).

Anyway, I hope this finds you well and if ever you get to read this I hope this information helps you out. And if it does, I would ask one thing. Learn more about this subject and spread this information to your followers. At the moment I have little impact on the spreading of information, but you have a large following. I believe this information to be extremely valuable and life improving. The remaining science parts in the book discuss the mechanics of running and how Ultra-marathoners can run a 100 miles with no problems. Anyone can do it, if they rework their knowledge on running.

My apologies for tremendous length of this message, but I’m hoping the sincerity of the information will get this through any potential filters and somehow make an impact. I plan on building myself up until I too can have as much impact as you do now and more so that I can help deplete fear and increase knowledge, destroy conventional wisdom, and change the world. But until then, back to my books. Have a good week!

    1. Dillon Mysliwiec – I found what you said about flat feet to be interesting. Now let me pose a follow-on question. What if only one foot is flat? (ie one foot has a normal arch and the other doesn’t?)

Second question, once you have that flat foot situation, what do you do about it? Go barefoot all of the time?

      1. The book would do more justice than I can from memory, and if you’d like to focus only on the science, start around chapter 25.

As for what I recall, the point isn’t that you need to run barefoot, however, if you are already flat-footed, it’s one of the best way to rebuild your foots structure and strength. You should try and find shoes that have little support or cushion as these both weaken your feet.

If only one foot is flat-footed, I’d personally still run barefoot. When you hurt something like your shoulder and are going through PT, you don’t stop focusing on the other shoulder you just pay extra attention to the injured one.

Workouts such as calf raises done barefoot I believe also can help if you’d like to focus specifically on one foot, but nothing is like running. On another note, if only one foot is flat-footed there may be some other underlying cause that you may need to learn about in order to prevent injury.

Note, I’m no doctor, I just like reading a lot about these subjects. I’d recommend seeing a physician, but you must take even their words lightly. Recently had an AC sprain diagnosed differently by two different shoulder specialists. One said 2-3 weeks back to martial arts (turned out completely wrong and may have seriously reinjured if I had take his advice) and the other said 2-3 months.

So doctors are a good reference points, just like teachers and mentors are, but always do further research on your own. Go to the library and see if they have “Born to Run” available, if memory serves me they reference all the research mentioned in the book in the back so you can look at original studies and learn even more that way.

I hope this helps and good luck.

  8. Hi Tim, this may not be the appropriate forum for this request but I’m a follower of the Four Hour Work Week. I’ve read it more than ten times and refer to it often. I have started my own Internet business trying to sell a product to be able to follow my true passions but I’m stuck. No sales. If you could spare a few minutes someday to offer an opinion I would be very grateful. I won’t spam you in this field, thank you for all of your wisdom over the years.

    1. I’m sure he gets thousands of emails, tweets, instagram DMs and others daily, so I doubt there’s the “right” forum haha. But his followers are quite widespread and their capabilities vast. So if you need help posting in forum such as this may help you find the right person to help. I actually own a side business I’m trying to expand as well and more speciically I work on web design, graphic design, and multimedia marketing. So maybe I can be of some assistance. Do you have a website with more information on your business? Feel free to email me and I’ll see what I can do to help.

  9. I just listened to your most recent podcast with Somah Chainani and I have two comments. I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU that you want to pick up the game of tennis. I HIGHLY recommend you start with Will Hamilton at FuzzyYellowBalls.com. He has the best online instructional videos on the net. Two, your books and podcast are ALREADY very popular amongst high school kids. My son, a senior in high school, has read Tools for Titans and has been following you through most of 2016 to present. Thanks for your weekly enlightenment.

  10. Hi, Tim! I’ve been following you for the past 3 years. Since then, I’ve changed my career direction (still an ongoing plan, though) and figured out a new life goal for myself, following some principles you laid out on the 4hww. But, that’s not all. On March of last year I started a little modified version of the Slow Carb Diet and lost in the following 8 months a total of 17kg. The modification was that I allowed myself trash food from Friday night till Sunday night. So, almost 3 cheat days, instead of one. Still, although much slower, the Weight got off and my markers are incredibly better (cholesterol, triglycerides, etc).

Buuuuuuuut…. That’s not all. I bought the 4 Hour Body a month ago and started a fitness program based on your ideas. Today was my 20th day at the gym. They have one of those bioimpedance scales (don’t know how to spell that), that isn’t very accurate but which I use to keep track. I did a DEXA a month ago, but will only do it again in a few weeks, so the bioscale will have to do.

Anyway….. My results! In twenty days: went from 30,3% body fat to 26,6%. Gained 4,5kg of muscles and lost 3kg of fat. My trainer didn’t believe it and had two other students try the scale to see if it was working correctly. It was.

So, thank you! Now, excuse me… I posted these results on Facebook minutes ago and my phone has been vibrating like hell with people commenting.

    Thank you so much!

  11. Tim – Thanks for all you do and have done! Like many others, you have changed the collective life of my wife and me (for the better)! We love organic, pre-measured ready-to-make meals delivered to our door step (Marley Spoon, Blue Apron, etc.), but we just cancelled because we are re-visiting the slow-carb regimen. My wife thinks there’s a sizable opportunity for providing a delivered slow-carb-friendly option to your rapid tribe. Have you tried this or are there firms out there for us to try already?

    1. BTW, I love “Tools of Titans”. I bought and gifted 7 copies this holiday season. Hilariously, my sister and I bought a copy for each other…so that’s 8 copies total!

  12. Tim is love ur stuff but I feel kind of odd listening to you promote the investing software when I’m a financial planner trying to build a business, in Australia mind u so not sure that the platform is available here but…

  13. Great list as usual. Wanted to also suggest that you take a look at Paul Ekman’s work on micro expressions and possible consider him for a future podcast? Terrific insights on interpreting human interactions and much more. Beyond that, love your work!

  14. Hello Tim. How about interviewing someone about nutrigenomics and functional medicine? (Like Amy Yasko). It’s fascinating, cutting edge, and a fitting subject for all things related to personal enhancement! (I’ll refrain from making a similar plug for contemporary psychoanalysis – see what I did there?)

    Bart

  15. I just received a personal invitation from President Trump to meet him next week in the White House to discuss my ideas on job growth. How is that relevant to you, Tim? – positive affirmations and a new morning routine for serious focus. Sure, he might have invited me anyway. But I really believe I changed the energy in my universe to make it real. Thanks for Tools of Titans. [Moderator: Twitter handle removed]

  16. Tim,

While I love all your posts on self actualization and self improvement, where do you stand on what is happening to the democracy that allowed you to thrive? It is scarey out there. How about your comments or those of experts.

  17. Hey! I dont have time to read, so I normally download audio books… when will your Titan book be available on audibles????

  18. As always sir, an inspiration and a pick me up! Found this particular 5 bullet to brighten my mood more than most, ( they’re usually all pretty good tho). Love your books and podcasts, please continue, I always look forward to them.

  19. This isn’t really a reply on this post, but I remember an earlier post that mentioned an index fund or index fund group that you liked/recommend. I can’t find the info, I’m pretty sure it was within the last 6 months on a 5-Bullet Friday. Any help would be appreciated.

  20. Dear Tim,

Would love to hear your thoughts and/or opinion, regarding Rachel Maddow’s comments on her Feb.17,2017 broadcast about Peter Thiel’s successful litigation against Gawker. l know you try to steer away from politics which is understandable and I also know you are a fan of his career, however, the ramifications of the judgement handed down has clearly has a terrifying impact on the first amendment. The litigation agreement they came to effects everyone in media including people such as yourself who are attempting through podcasts and publishing to maintain an uncompromised space. Frankly, I don’t feel as safe speaking my mind in public or private forums anymore, (and I’m just some schlub local comic and self-published writer, with an emphasis on the Schlub. ) I would presume Guys like you must be quietly and covertly shitting the bed over Thiel. I would be. Do you get sweaty if Thiel calls you personally with concerns over a guest not to his liking? I see a blinking old red rotary phone in your office with a dedicated line. Thiel on the other end, he’s dressed all in grey. There are henchman nearby. Some type of giant doo-hickey in the middle giving off steam and appearing to be nearing a launch cycle. He’s wearing a monocle and pets a white tabby as he speaks to you nonchalantly about what others have said about him in the press. Every now and then he politely tosses raw flesh into a piranha tank from a platform over an indoor lake. Perhaps you discount the image and thats the idea but people laughed when Trump threw his combover into the ring and now look at him. The world’s changing Tim, is it for better or worse? Publicly or privately, please discuss amongst your peers. It would be great to be included in the discussion but honestly, I don’t care. Just talk about it.

    Fan for life.

    Sincerely,

    Craig Spivek

  21. Tim, I love your posts about Japan. On Saturday, March 18 I will have a free day in Tokyo. What would be your recommendations be for a friend who had one open solo day in Tokyo? I travel as part of my job, and I frequently find myself in wonderful places – London, Munich, Shanghai – but solo. What tips and tricks do you have for maximizing the experience and adventure of solo travel? Probably like many of your readers, i find myself asking “What would Tim do?”

  22. Hey Tim, long time listener of your podcast and just finished tools of titans. Honestly the book is a life changer and your podcast is always spinning my wheels on how to be better in all realms of life. Thanks man, keep up the good work!!

  23. 5 Bullet Friday 3/3 Caribou Tenderloin recipe question: sear in coconut milk or coconut oil? (not sure how to achieve a sear w/ coconut milk!) Thanks for awesome posts and a great first 1/3 of Tools of Titans!

  24. Tim

I have recently started receiving your 5 Bullet email. My favourite part was “What I am drinking!” You included this question in the first two Bullets I received and I purchased the wine you recommended – they were excellent. But you have not included this question since. Please add it back as a regular Bulletproof ! Thank you

  25. Tim, you have opened my mind to a new way of thinking. I am striving to be an entrepreneur, but I am having trouble being genuine. I see an idea and I want to pursue it. I guess what I am trying to say is that I am having trouble becoming a leader. I have ordered all of your books and the coffee you recommended. I think I am just to new to the game and to new to this life change to be unique. I am learning everything that I can, so I can put the ideas together to find my calling. Thanks for all the great info.

    1. You should check check out Seth Godin’s book on leadership: “Tribes: We Need You to Lead Us” It may help clarify the few trouble spots you are having. On top of that I’d highly recommend reading “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie and “Never Eat Alone” by Keith Ferrazzi.

  26. Tim Ferriss Is the Man !

    I Just Purchased

    ” TOOLS OF TITANS ”

    Awesome Read !

The Holy Grail of Self Help Books…

    Buy it !

    It’s Worth Every Penny !

    And then Some…

  27. Would love to see you do a group table interview with Josh Waitzkin, Darin Olien, Laird Hamilton, Brian Mackenzie, & Wim Hof.

  28. Tim, you have changed my life. Thank you for your brilliance and humor. I recommend your podcast on the daily. I’m a designer, day-playing as a Design Department Director, trying to scale and lead at the same time. Your insights (and permission to be weird) help tremendously. Love hearing your voice every day!

  29. I know its been a while, but I loved it when you said you were listing to Angle-dust by Faith No More. Just cause it had been several years since I had heard it myself and it made me smile. What are you listening to these days?

  30. I LOVE my Dash Go Rapid egg cooker!!!! I ordered it the minute I read about it on your blog. It is the easiest, most convenient way to make hard-boiled eggs. My clients have been asking me for years how to make a hard boiled egg that is easy to peel and that is cooked right. Now, I have the answer!!! Thank you…

  31. Hello Tim,

I’m a long time follower of yours and love my mornings with your Tools of Titans.

I’ve got one point to criticise. Since you have a great following, I would love you to consider promoting more sustainable alternatives to everyday products you endorse, like the plastic shoes here.

You see, I feel that being an influencer comes with a great responsibility. And what kind of effect does it have when 1k of your biggest followers would now sport something that will end up in the landfills and oceans 2 years later. There are alternatives.

I highly recommend to read more on what Ellen Macarthur does.

“One refuse truck’s-worth of plastic is dumped into the sea every minute.” (https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/jan/19/more-plastic-than-fish-in-the-sea-by-2050-warns-ellen-macarthur)

We all need to do our part to tackle this issue.

    With thanks in advance,

    Tom

  32. Answer to the picture caption? The Smile!

If you like the Hardcore History episodes on the Khans, then you HAVE to read Conn Iggulden’s series on the Khans -> way more in depth and based on as much facts as we know, it brings the Khans to life and blew me away!

  33. Hi Tim,

I LOVE your podcast. I devoured every single episode in just a couple months this past year. You’re guests are incredible, and you’re not a half-bad interviewer 🙂 Hearing from all those talented entrepeneurs, dreamers and trend-setters has deeply impacted me. They gave me the courage to push ahead with my vision/passion. Also, much of your advice has been instrumental for me, especially creating a new category, which I’m attempting in the world of camping/hammocks and ultralight insanely simple/quick setups. [Moderator: product information removed.]

Thanks for all you do Tim! You’re making the world a better place!!

  34. Hi Tim, question: what is your current favorite running shoes? The YMCA Turkey Trot is coming up and my family intends to do it as we’ve started volunteering there. Thank you. Wishing you blessings of peace, love and bliss. Thank you for the wonderful contribution that you make to the world. XOXOXO Shannon

  35. Brilliant that you posted a link to The Sun Magazine in your ‘5’ today. Hands down the best magazine ever published.

  36. Regarding 5 Bullet Friday 10/12/18; I came across the “Not my monkeys” quote in a Jack Reacher novel by Lee Child some time ago. I can’t remember which title, they tend to blend into one another.

    1. Hi, Leonard. 5-Bullet Friday newsletters are offered exclusively to subscribers and are, therefore, not available on the blog or anywhere else online.

  37. Hey Tim, don’t typically Leave a Reply on blogs but want to express my appreciation and excitement for your “5-Bullet Friday” emails! You always provide your readers with stimulating information to ponder over the weekend. Is it also possible to create a brief inspirational-emotionally charged 5-Bullet Monday email to kickstart everyone’s work week in the right frame of mind? Keep inspiring and challenging us to think in creative ways!

  39. Hello Tim. I’m fairly new to your tribe and have been getting your emails a few months and although we probably would be watching different shows and watching different movies than each other (well, okay.. you’d probably watch some of my movie choices) what I love about your observations is you look for ways the things you are seeing can and will bring hope and life into the lives of others and I really appreciate/value that! You said you pondered the quote: “It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship, that makes unhappy marriages.”

― Friedrich Nietzsche I absolutely love this. In May my wife and I celebrate 30 years of marriage together. I wish I could say they were all incredible, but that is not true. For much of it, I was an idiot. As husbands, we are to HONOR our wives as Christ did for the church. Well, He only died for the church (us) and as a husband, I am to be a friend and a lover. I have learned LOVER means much less about sex than most men think. I now think of that word as now sounding and meaning this: LOVEHER. If we want to be a good LOVER, we must be a good LOVEHER. Love her in all ways. Honor her. Respect her. Give for her. Protect her. Comfort her. Give your life for her. That changes everything. Before I go long.. I’ll just leave it there 🙂 So, I am a guy who has been in a battle with Stage 4 cancer longer than I really want to, but I’m still here and I’m still fighting and also work hard to bring hope and life into the lives of others. I’d like to thank you for what you do and all the time/effort it takes. I have just released my first published book and I would love to put it on your reading list sometime. It’s about hope and it’s about hearing some things from our lives we may never have heard before were it not for the tools/methods I provide for people in the book. I know that I can’t leave a link here and for honoring you/your page I won’t I will, however, leave you a clue as it is all a part of my fight, my movement, my hope, and my gift and that is [Moderator: hashtag respectfully removed as a matter of policy].

    Thank you Tim!

  40. Hi Tim, I subscribed to your news letter earlier this year. I love it and wish I subscribed Sooner! Is there a way to see your past historical 5 bullet Fridays?? Would be a privilege thank you!

  41. Tim,

You are changing my life. Reigniting a fire that has been out for some time. I was a bio hacker 20 years ago before I even knew what it was. I could go on and on about my story, so I’ll just sum it up and say thank you!

  42. “When art critics get together they talk about Form and Structure and Meaning. When artists get together they talk about where you can buy cheap turpentine.” Picasso

  43. Tim,

I’m trying to source out the quote in one of the recent 5-bullet newsletters that goes something like “to say the brave thing, to do the right thing….that the measure of of life”. Can you tell me the source. It’s a great one. Thanks

  44. Your messages provide solid understanding in a growing divided world. But your use of the word Bullet is a big mistake. Bullets only hurt. They never help the progress of people.

  45. Are the 5-bullet Fridays archived somewhere? The quotes always resonate with me, I’d love to see all the quotes from all the 5-bullet Fridays somewhere? Thanks!

    1. Hi, Tee. 5-Bullet Friday back issues are not available, except, at times, as part of a promotion. Being a subscriber, you’ll hear about those types of promotions first. Thank you for subscribing!

  46. Tim, long story short, your 4HWW book set me on an entrepreneurship path into coffee gear way back in the spring of 2007. Started with ecomm home espresso (Clive Coffee) and then manufacturing my own drip coffee maker (Ratio Eight coffee maker) and then buying a friend’s business (Able Brewing). Your newsletter popped into my inbox this morning mentioning the Able Disk for Aeropress and I realized it’s now *12 years* since I read your book.

Thanks for pushing out new ideas, refining your old ones, and just generally being an inspiration to a lot of us.

Cheers to a great 2020 for all your plans!
